~ Smashbox Softbox Palette, A Review ~

Smashbox Photo Op Eyeshadow Palette in “SOFTBOX”

Colors from left to right are:

*Top*  Fizz (shimmer) , Pebble (matte) and Minx (shimmer)

*Bottom* Vanilla (matte), Ignite (shimmer), and Sienna (shimmer)

Now, while I am not a huge fan of shimmery shadows, I have found that I can enjoy them is they aren’t chunky or powdery/dusty in texture. These shimmers go on as creamy as you can expect for a powder eye shadow and require almost no effort to blend. The pigment is equally as good  as the texture and picking up color is as easy as a ‘pat’ into the product. No swiping required.

I swatched the colors on my inner arm with a bit of MAC PAINT in ‘Bare Canvas’  as a base. See for yourself how they look. For reference purposes, I am a light/medium skin tone (Face Atelier #3, Mac NC20/25)

Fizz, Pebble(matte) , Minx, Vanilla(matte) , Ignite, Sienna

*Note that ‘vanilla’ is almost invisible on my skintone*

In short, there are many combinations you can create with these 6 basic colors. From everyday looks for work and school to dramatic neutral looks for evening, this is a quality product in a compact size (Across- 4.5in , – High – 3 in, Thick -.5in) perfect for your handbag and travel. The color range would be suitable for any season and flattering on almost all skin tones from light to dark.

If you are new to makeup, or afraid of wild colors – this palette is a perfect harmony of friendly, safe color and easy application. Not exactly a budget product, but worth the investment for something you will use again and again.
